Thanks to a bite from a deer tick, I have become the unwilling host to several bacterial infections. An incidental host is a host that is not essential for the survival of a pathogen. Since that's what I am, it seemed like a good name for this blog.
The images in my banner are pictures of my uninvited guests. From left to right, you can see the spirochetal form of Borrelia bergdorferi (this is the bacterium that causes Lyme Disease), a cell infected with Anaplasma phagocytophilium, Bartonella, cells containing Babesia, and the cystic form of B. burgdorferi.
